Berwick Heritage Open Days is part of England’s largest grass roots heritage festival celebrating the heritage, community and history of Berwick, Tweedmouth and Spittal. It’s your chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences—and it’s all FREE.
Berwick is one of the jewels in the national Heritage Open Days crown. We outperform larger towns in the number of events we put on for locals and visitors alike. Earlier this year, because of the pandemic, the steering group decided that for the safety of the public and our volunteers, we cannot put on any of the normal events this year. Instead, we are maintaining our position at the forefront of the national festival and are providing a host of online events to inspire you to visit the sites. Use the films as a guide on location. You can discover Berwick, Tweedmouth and Spittal in a whole, new way.
We love putting on Heritage Open Days and we know you love taking part in Heritage Open Days, so we are doing our best to keep this going and to help publicise Berwick as a premier tourist destination for 2021 when, hopefully, the event can go ahead as normal.

It’s that time of year again…Berwick Heritage Open Days Weekend is rapidly approaching and we’d like to invite you once again (or perhaps for the first time) to volunteer as a steward during the weekend of Friday 16th – Sunday 18th September.
Helena Hughes has taken over volunteer scheduling from Catherine Kent, who is leaving the area, and would be delighted to hear from you and to make your acquaintance in due course.
Helena writes ~ The programme is still being finalised but we are aiming to open all our usual historic sites (with some new additions to the programme this year), so if you have time to give and would like to share your enthusiasm for Berwick’s heritage with others, we’d be delighted to have you with us! Our events can’t run without your support and your time is hugely appreciated. To help get a sense of your availability, and to make sure we have your up-to-date contact details (or simply to opt out), it would be very helpful if you could follow the link below and answer a few brief questions:

If you could respond by 30th June, that would be fantastic. And of course, if you know of others who might like to get involved, please share this webpage address with them! https://berwickhods.org.uk/berwick-hods-volunteering-2022/ (copy and paste to an email)
Thanks so much in advance - I’ll be in touch again as soon as the timetable starts to take shape. In the meantime, you are welcome to get in touch with me at this email address - helenahughes@mac.com
Best wishes, Helena
