Welcome to Berwick Heritage Open Days 2024

6th - 15th SEPTEMBER

Berwick-upon-Tweed is the most northerly town in England and is bursting at the seams with history!

Explore the wonders of Berwick’s history from the Medieval times right up to the 1990s with our packed programme of events.

As we get nearer to September we’ll be releasing a full list of our events which includes open buildings, walks, talks and exhibitions. Did we mention that they’re all FREE!

What is there to see?

Berwick-upon-Tweed has such a rich history and our Heritage Open Days (HODs) events show this off to the full!

During the two weeks of HODs we offer everything from online talks to graveyard walks. We also offer you the chance to take a look at buildings and sites often closed to the public.

Last year visitors were able to explore areas of the Elizabethan Walls such as the New Tower, the Gunpowder Magazine and Cumberland Bastion, the old Gaol in the Town Hall, the former Brewery cellars in Silver Street, the Masonic Hall, various churches, the Drill Hall and even the Free Trade, an almost untouched listed pub - the list goes on!

Join us between 6th - 15th September to explore what Berwick has to offer.
