Can you help?

Heritage Open Days would not be possible without the army of volunteers who support us or the generous individuals and organisations who open their buildings/sites to the public.

We’re always looking to expand our offering year on year so if you have an interesting property you’d be willing to open to the public for even an afternoon let us know.

Berwick’s Heritage Open Days are organised and run entirely by volunteers. From our steering group who plan the event, to our amazing team of volunteers who look after our venues and visitors, everyone gives their time for free.

Volunteers

Volunteering for HODs is much easier than you think!

We tailor our posts to you as an individual.

Some of our volunteers enjoy being outdoors, looking after venues such as the Cumberland Bastion or the Silver Street Cellars. This involves being outside in all the British weather can throw at us in September. Others prefer a cosier role, manning our information desk or keeping an eye on our exhibitions in the Town Hall.

All of these roles involve guiding visitors, helping them with information (which you’ll be provided with) and ensuring they enjoy their day out.

Our voluntary posts also include stewards for our guided walks and our in person talks and events too.

If you think you might like to get involved as a volunteer or as part of our steering group do get in touch. Whether you have a couple of hours to spare during the HODs weeks (6th-15th September) or would like to offer more we’d love to hear from you!

Get in touch.
